The annual Campus Club Holiday Wine and Food Extravaganza!
December 3, 2020

Hi everyone –

What a great evening! THANK YOU for your support of the Campus Club at the University of Minnesota, and special thanks to chef Beth for all the instruction on oysters, meatballs, and lamb!

Here are the wines I was enjoying during the show: Domaine de la Bretonniere Muscadet, Selvapiana Chianti Rufina, and Muriel Rioja Reserva 2015. All great. All available locally at independent fine wine shops (I bought all of these at North Loop Wine and Spirits).

Below you’ll find a replay of the webinar, links to the recipe sheets, and tons of links for further learning. We invite you to also explore the rest of The Wine Workshop and check out our upcoming events. Sign up for our email list to never miss a beat!

If you’ve misplaced your recipes, you can download them here:

The Essential Oyster by Rowan Jacobsen is fantastic book and a great gift for the oyster lover in your life. You’ll be amazed at how much there is know about our little yummy friends!

MUSCADET with Oysters: The classic combination found not only in the Loire Valley but in almost every bistro in Paris. Learn more about the Muscadet region, and learn more about the Melon de Bourgogne grape.

CHIANTI RUFINA with meatballs: Nothing is better in the deep of a Minnesota winter than this combination. As you learned, Chianti Rufina is a very different wine than the neighboring Chianti Classico. Learn more about Chianti sub-zones, about the Sangiovese grape, and experience one of the top food destinations in Tuscany (specifically for meat lovers).

RIOJA RESERVA with the lamb: The earthy character of Rioja pairs so elegantly with a roasted lamb. It’s a match made in food and wine heaven. Learn more about the region of Rioja, the Tempranillo grape (the dominant variety of the area), and the aging laws for Rioja.

Thanks again, everyone! Stay safe, stay masked, and we’ll get through this together. Let’s gather for the holiday party in person next year!
