No wine style and region in the world is as shrouded in history, stories, passion, hard work, and winemaking alchemy as that of Port production in the Douro Valley of Portugal.
From the incredible vineyards in the UNESCO Heritage Site of the Douro Valley, to final production and bottling the in caves of Porto and Villa Nova di Gaia, the story of how Port gets made is a great one, indeed.
We will start with an overview of the geography and history of the region, then deep dive into the production methods while covering all major styles of Port: Ruby, Tawny, Indicated Age Tawny, Colheita, Late Bottled Vintage, Vintage Port, and more.
Then we’ll detail specific brands and what to expect out of them. We’ll cover the biggies such as Graham’s, Noval, Taylor-Fladgate, and Smith-Woodhouse, plus smaller producers that often fly under the radar.
You’ll be all set for Port enjoyment as the temperatures start to go down!
