It’s time for the five V’s of the wine world: Viognier, Vermentino, Verdicchio, Verdejo, and Vinho Verde.

Join us for learning all about five fantastic grape varieties and regions that all start with the letter V. Hailing from France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy, we’ll explore some well-known regions and some off the radar areas as well. With each of these grapes, we’ll cover in detail what they are like in the vineyard, in the winery, and in your glass.

Suggested wines that you may want to seek out (all of these overdeliver, but if you can’t find an exact wine just use the guidance of a good independent wine shop … there are SO MANY choices out there!).

Viognier: Cline Cellars, Novelty Hill, d’Arenberg, anything from the region of Condrieu ($$$)

Vermentino: Often from Sardinia. “Aragosta” is one of our favorites (look for the crustacean on the label). Argiolas is also a great producer.

Verdicchio: Garafoli, Andrea Felici.

Verdejo: Most of what you find will be from Rueda in Spain. Naia, Honoro Vera, Buil & Gine, Basa.

Vinho Verde: Our main suggestion is to spend more money. Don’t be cheap. We’ll explain why in the webinar. Don’t worry, the most expensive Vinho Verdes are still under $20.

The Wine Workshops are designed to be a fast infusion of wine knowledge, taught by one of the most experienced wine educators in the country, certified sommelier Jason Kallsen. When properly and clearly explained, wine does not need to be intimidating. Which of course makes it much more fun.

We hope you can join us for the Five V’s!
