Time to get real. (Real) Beaujolais, that is: Exploring the Crus!
Pity poor Beaujolais. For a whole generation of wine lovers, Beaujolais equated Nouveau, and most Nouveau is forgettable and simple. But as the younger generation of Somms and wine lovers have rediscovered, there is another whole side (literally) to Beaujolais making some of the most interesting and dynamic wines in the world.
This is the northern half of Beaujolais, known as the Crus, where hills and varied soils bring different personalities to the ten Cru regions.
For our webinar, we’ll start with the history of the Beaujolais region and how they are at once tied to, and on the other hand separate from, Burgundy to the north. We’ll detail the Gamay grape and how it was ostracized by Burgundy hundreds of years ago. And of course, we’ll go over each of the ten crus in detail, arming you with information you need to know as a consumer.
This region is one of our favorite wine topics, and we hope you can join us.

The Wine Workshops are designed to be a fast infusion of wine knowledge, taught by one of the most experienced wine educators in the country, certified sommelier Jason Kallsen along with his wife Angela. When properly and clearly explained, wine does not need to be intimidating. Which of course makes it much more fun.
We hope you can join us for Wine Workshop: (Real) Beaujolais!
