The Somm Kit! Independent sommelier-picked gems of the wine world to keep you stocked up with exciting juice.
Each wine is from family-owned wineries. Each wine is from sustainably and organically farmed vineyards. And each wine has its own thing going on, which we cover in detail in the video.
The value of the Somm Kit: INSTANT access to tasting notes, cellar tags, food pairing ideas, articles, links, and a 40+ minute video of sommelier Jason Kallsen and Angela Kallsen tasting through these wines. Buying the wines through the Somm Kit is cheaper than going to the store and finding them yourself.
This particular pick:
- Six fabulous wines for springtime wine enjoyment! Three whites, three reds, all dynamic and different. Three Sauvignon Blancs, the equivalent of two bottles of Gamay, and the equivalent of one bottle of Pinot Noir. Hence, 3 + 2 + 1.
- Three Sauvignon Blancs: one each from Germany, Slovenia, and New Zealand. One of the wines is only 335 case total production! The New Zealand is an under the radar gem from Wairarapa, on the southeastern corner of the north island.
- One amazing Beaujolais-Village (100% Gamay) from a tiny producer with a perfect track record for detailed and beautiful wines. This is a strong, young Beaujolais-Village capable of aging for a few years ahead.
- TWO wines, one younger and one older, from two different countries, that are both the same amazing blend of 50% Gamay and 50% Pinot Noir.
Sometimes it’s really hard to name a Somm Kit. We put together this collection with springtime drinking in mind, but we wanted to avoid calling it another Springtime Kit. Then it hit us. Three bottles of Sauvignon Blanc, the equivalent of two bottles of Gamay, and the equivalent of one bottle of Pinot Noir. Presto!
This is a GREAT Somm Kit for those looking for variety for the wine shelf combined with brightness and freshness for drinking in the springtime weather. We love this grouping, especially if you’re into wine and food pairing.
