WELCOME TO WINE BOOK CLUB at The Wine Workshop!
Wine Book Club focuses a one hour discussion on the themes and ideas presented in a wine book, and for our opening session we’re starting with one of the best and most influential wine books out there: The New California, by Jon Bonne.
This influential book has re-shaped how many people think about and approach California wine. In this (gorgeous) book, Bonne (former head wine writer at the San Francisco Chronicle, which gave him incredible access to the state’s wineries) presents a compelling argument supporting wineries that are intentionally making wine reflective of the California wines of the early and mid 20th century, before the rise in alcohol levels and ‘cult wines,’ plus those that focus on the great old vineyards of the state.
We’ll discuss key topics in the book, taste through a number of selections that he highlights, and high-spot our personal favorites.
The Wine Workshops are designed to be a fast infusion of wine knowledge, taught by one of the most experienced wine educators in the country, certified sommelier Jason Kallsen. When properly and clearly explained, wine does not need to be intimidating. Which of course makes it much more fun.
We hope you can join us for Wine Book Club: The New California.
