Here is your video of us stepping through the selections:
More info about these grapes and regions:
Wine number one: The wines of the Basque Region are distinctive indeed. Made with a variety of mostly unknown grapes (Hondarrabi Zuri being the dominant one), these wines are fresh, frisky, lively, and perfect with shellfish. Always serve with a good chill and ideally with seafood at hand.
Learn more about Hondarrabi Zuri, the history of the Basque region, and more info about Txakoli.
Wine number two: Tempranillo is the great red grape of Spain, but in the region of Ribera del Duero it’s known as Tinto Fino. This region is higher in elevation, making for a different style of wine from other Tempranillo-driven regions, and this wine is also not shy on oak, making for a richer and deeper style in the end.
Learn more about the Tempranillo grape, the region of Ribera del Duero, and the impact of oak on the final style of wine.
Wine number three: Ah, Rioja! How we love thee! Rioja is so special because it’s one of the last wine regions that age the wine for us. The “Reserva” designation is my favorite level, for the wines develop many secondary and tertiary aromas and flavors that you just can’t get any other way.
Learn more about the region of Rioja, the amazing tapas bars to be found there (we SHALL travel again soon!), and the different aging levels to find on these wines.
